How To: Install TrueCrypt on New i5 Boards

by Jon on October 8th, 2010

I recently had to encrypt a whole system with the truecrypt boot loader and it gave me a lot of problems I figured out it was an issue with the new i5 board so I had to go into bios and make some changes. The issue I had was when rebooting after the test login, I would get and error: 0 after entering in the correct password. The system was an Lenovo x201, so look out for these as this is an easy fix.

Enter the bios menu and change the following settings.

Config > Network > Wake on LAN – Disable this option
Config > Network > Flash over LAN – Disable this option
Config > Network > Ethernet LAN Option ROM – Disable this option
Config > CPU > Intel Virtualization Tech – Disable this option
Config > CPU > Intel VT-d Feature – Disable this option

Once all of these changes are made then go in and encrypt the whole system with the boot loader and it will work as expected.
