How To: Install Asterisk 1.4-current Script (updated 01-07-2012)

by Jon on November 12th, 2009

Update 01-07-2012: Since Asterisk 1.4 is no longer being developed some of the links in my script have been removed. Here is a new version of the script that uses the last version of Asterisk 1.4. I will be writing a new script for Asterisk 1.8 install so look for that if you would like to run a more recent version.

Install Prerequisites:

yum -y install curl-devel bind-utils system-config-securitylevel kernel kernel-devel kernel-smp-devel kernel-smp openssl-devel openssl gcc gcc-c++ gtk+ gtk+-devel libtermcap-devel newt-devel ncurses-devel mysql mysql-server mysql-devel mysql-server-devel php-mysql httpd ntp wget screen

Download and run script changes:

wget http://jonathanmanning.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/asterisk_install_script_01072012.txt
chmod +x asterisk_install_script_01072012.txt
./asterisk_install_script_01072012.txt

Old Post:

Well I made a revision to my asterisk install script and made it even easier with a single step to install asterisk.

Step 1 Install Prerequisites:
# yum -y install curl-devel bind-utils system-config-securitylevel kernel kernel-devel kernel-smp-devel kernel-smp openssl-devel openssl gcc gcc-c++ gtk+ gtk+-devel libtermcap-devel newt-devel ncurses-devel mysql mysql-server mysql-devel mysql-server-devel php-mysql httpd ntp wget screen

Step 2 Install Asterisk:
# wget http://jonathanmanning.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/asterisk-1.4-script.txt
# chmod +x asterisk-1.4-script.txt
# ./asterisk-1.4-script.txt

You are done the system will go thorough and setup asterisk and the database.
